GAIL pipeline fire: CPI demands probe into possibility of 'sabotage'

Visakhapatnam: CPI on Friday demanded that Union government should constitute a high level technical expert committee to probe into the gas pipeline fire at Nagaram village in East Godavari district.

National Executive Committee member of CPI, K Narayana, told reporters that it must be probed whether it was "an external sabotage" by a rival company or negligence by the GAIL staff which caused the fire.

15 people were killed and 18 injured when a massive blaze raged through the village in Andhra Pradesh's East Godavari district following a blast in an apparently leaking gas pipeline of state-run Gas Authority of India Limited this morning.
