NAMAKKAL: An eight-member gang was nabbed by a special team on the charges of abducting a businessman and his two friends following a dispute over the installation of dyeing units near here on Tuesday.A police official said that eight persons were arrested at the Bannari check post in the neighbouring Erode district while they were taking the abducted businessman to Kollegal in Karnataka in the wee hours of Tuesday.All the three kidnapped persons were safely rescued, the official said.The gang was hired by S Kannan to abduct V Jawahar, who received `4.50 lakh for erecting two dyeing units some time back. But, Jawahar did finish the work in time. Meanwhile, a gang intercepted him at Pallipalayam on Monday afternoon and bundled him into a car before fleeing the scene. A case was registered by the Pallipalayam police in connection with the incident.Jawahar’s friends, G Shanmugasundaram and R.Satheesh, were also allegedly abducted by the same gang.A special team swung into action based on the information shared by Jawahar’s wife Ramya, who lodged a complaint in connection with the kidnapping incident. “We were tracking the movement of the gang and alerted the Erode police on getting reliable information that Jawahar was being taken to Kollegal. As a result, the gang was arrested at Bannari check post”, inspector Palanisamy told media persons.
