BHUBANESWAR: The gangrape victim on Saturday knocked the doors of the State Commission for Women (SCW) and sought protection. In a complaint, she stated that there was threat to her life and that of her brother-in-law and sister too. Anti-social elements are making rounds of their house and issuing threats, she said. The girl also alleged that she was being offered money to withdraw the case. SCW Chairperson Jyoti Panigrahy said she would have a discussion with Commissioner of Police BK Sharma as the victim sought protection. Asked about the Commission’s role in the case, Panigrahy said since police investigation was underway, SCW would not have much to do at this stage. The Commission may intervene if the victim feels that the probe is not being done in a right manner and seeks support of SCW.
