BANGALORE: Udaya TV, the Kannada General Entertainment Channel from the Sun TV Network, has announced that its film awards event, Vivel Active Fair Udaya Film Awards would be held at Place Grounds, Bangalore on September 11.The event would be telecast on Udaya TV in the first week of October.Vivel Active Fair is the title sponsor of the Awards event.Awards will be presented for outstanding performances in the calendar year 2010 cross 24 categories, in a glittering ceremony planned for the occasion.Additionally, 7 special awards recognizing outstanding contributions to the Kannada Film Industry would also be presented.The three member awards jury consists of MS Ramesh, Noted Film Director and President of the Karnataka Film Directors’ Association, Anu Prabhakar, actress and Karnataka State Award winner and K Sadashiv Shenoy, well known film journalist.The chief guest for the event is DV Sadananda Gowda, Chief Minister of Karnataka.The event would be attended by all the leading lights of the Kannada Film Industry and eminent personalities from various walks of life in Karnataka.Udaya TV viewers also will be issued passes to witness the event on a first come serve basis.The star-studded gala event will also feature entertaining performances by leading actors; Puneet, Shivarajkumar, Upendra, Prajwal, Yash, Ragini, Priyamani, Haripriya to name a few.Commenting on the initiative, K Vijay Kumar, CEO, Sun TV Network says, “As the first and Number 1 Channel in Karnataka, Udaya TV has always had films and film based programming as an important part of its overall viewer offering.This awards event, planned on a very grand scale is our way of thanking and honouring the industry and we also believe that this will further strengthen the bond between the industry and the film loving public, most of whom are our loyal viewers.” Nilanjan Mukherjee, head of marketing, ITC Personal Care Products Business says, “Karnataka is a very important market for Vivel Active Fair and our proud association with most coveted Udaya Film Awards is a step forward to come closer to our consumers.The brand epitomises quality, beauty and success and also represents the brand values of this award event in terms of honouring the best talent in Kannada film industry.We see this as an opportunity to celebrate the glory of Kannada cinema.”
