Governor should resign: Puttaswamy

BANGALORE: Charging Governor of committing Constitutional impropriety by not accepting the Cabinet’s decision to appoint the Lokayukta, chief minister political secretary B J Puttaswamy has demanded Governor H R Bhardwaj’s resignation. “The Governor has no business to impose his opinion on the government. If he has anything to say, then he should do so within the four walls of the Raj Bhavan. But he choose to make a public statement regarding the appointment of Lokayukta,” Puttaswamy said, here on Friday. Stating that Bhardwaj too was facing charges on the issue of the office of profit, Puttaswamy said he must resign on the same grounds. “If Bannurmath is facing charges and hence cannot be appointed as Lokayukta, the Governor too has no moral right to continue in office as he too is facing charges,” Puttaswamy added.
