The Congress government in Rajasthan is neglecting the historical icons and cultural heritage of the state and has also deleted the word "Hindu" from a chapter on Maharana Pratap in a state education board text, BJP has alleged.
"The state government ordered deletion of the word "Hindu" from the chapter written on Maharana Pratap, who was a great hero who fought wars for protection of religion and people," BJP state vice-president Onkar Singh Lakhawat said on Thursday.
Lakhawat alleged that with the state education department adopting the NCERT syllabus and prescribing NCERT texts, the ancient literature and art of Rajasthan was being ignored in secondary and senior secondary schools.
Citing examples related to the state secondary education board books, Lakhawat said it was highly objectionable that, "the Congress government has smeared black ink on words like 'Hindu darshan, Hindu pati, and Hindu dharm' in school textbooks.
