Kirkwood: A gunman opened fire at a city council meeting, killing two police officers and three other people before law enforcers fatally shot him, authorities have said.
The two officers and the three people attending the meeting on Thursday night in suburban St Louis were killed after the gunman rushed the council chambers and began firing as he yelled "Shoot the mayor," according to St Louis County Police spokesman Tracy Panus.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the mayor was hit, but at least two people were.
Kirkwood police fatally shot the gunman.
The gunman killed one officer outside the city hall, then walked into the chambers and shot another, Panus said.
He continued firing in the chambers, killing three attendees and wounding two others.
