Rewari: A teenaged girl identified as Kanchan was allegedly kidnapped and her mother killed in Haryana's Rewari on August 15 when she resisted the attempts to abduct her daughter.
Following the abduction and killing angry villagers protested and indulged in arson and rioting. Villagers also vandalised the vehicles of the Superintendent of Police and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) when they reached the area to investigate and to talk to the protesters.
The incident took place in Jhaal village of Kosli when the whole country was celebrating Independence Day, the villagers were protesting. They indulged in heavy brick bating after sitting on protest and blocking the roads with the dead body of Kanchan's mother. They alleged that the police did not arrive on time or take action even though they had been informed about the incident.
According to them 20 people in three vehicles arrived in the village to abduct the girl. The main accused in some one called Govind and he was helped in kidnapping the girl by his friends.
The 28-year-old Govind was infatuated with Kanchan but the girl's mother was against it as the he was related to them. So Govind allegedly abducted Kanchan.
He had allegedly tried to abduct Kanchan a few days back too but he was caught by the villagers and handed over to the police.
There in tension in the village after the incident. The villagers are demanding the immediately arrest of those involved in the abduction and killing.
