CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Thursday directed Advocate-General A Navaneethakrishnan to file an affidavit stating the steps taken to drain stagnation of rain water and restoration of storm water drains in the city.The first bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice TS Sivagnanam gave the direction while entertaining a public interest writ petition from social activist ‘Traffic’ KR Ramaswamy on Thursday. The plea prayed for a direction to the Corporation and the CMWS&SB to take action on his representation dated November 6 last addressed to the two departments.Citing a tragic incident on November 6 when school teacher Sarala fell into an open stormwater drain and drowned at T Nagar, he sought action against the erring officials for their negligence in discharging their duties.
