BANGALORE: The High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail applications of former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, his corporator son Katta Jagadish and Itasca managing director S V Srinivas terming the scam in which they were involved as “big”. A single HC bench of Justice V Jagannathan rejected the bail petitions on three grounds. One, the court in its order states that there is prima-facie against the three accused and release on bail is not warranted. Two, the three accused are the “star players” of the Rs 111 crore scam. The court observed that the offence was serious, money involved was large and likelihood of witnesses turning hostile high. Three, the court stressed that transactions running into crores were done through cheques in full violation of account payee regulations. The High Court also pointed out to the dismissal of the bail petitions of MP Kanimozhi by the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court in the 2G Spectrum scandal.
