New Delhi: The Jharkhand High Court is scheduled to hear the BIT-Mesra student Abhishek Mishra's death case on January 18.
The court had earlier taken cognisance of the letter addressed by Abhishek's father, Subhas Chandra Mishra, demanding a CBI probe into his son's death on December 8.
"The death looked unnatural as there was blood on his face. The autopsy was done within 15 minutes and he was declared dead by drowning," Subhas Chandra Mishra, who is a doctor with Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi, said.
Abhishek drowned in the Dasam Falls when he went there for a picnic with three of his friends including Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's daughter, Ragini.
Abhishek's death has been shrouded in mystery after it was alleged that he was having an affair with Lalu Prasad's daughter. Abhishek's father had earlier claimed that the boy's drowning had something to do with his relationship with Ragini.
The fact that two RJD MPs - Raghunath Jha and Akhilesh Kumar Singh - had also visited Abhishek Mishra's family in New Delhi to offer their condolences had raised more eyebrows.
BIT Vice-Chancellor S K Mukherjee had said that the group had gone to Dassam Falls without informing the institute. The institute, Mukherjee said, learnt about the incident from villagers.
The Jharkhand High Court has asked the police for the case diary and a detailed investigation report.
