The former chief minister urges electorate to reject BJP, Congress, but says party is not adopting soft stance in favour..

HUBLI: JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy, by urging the electorate to reject the BJP and Congress, made an indirect appeal to vote for former minister and independent candidate B Sriramulu.Addressing the media here on Saturday, Kumaraswamy refused to accept that the JD(S) was adopting a soft stance towards Sriramulu, a close associate of former minister G Janardhana Reddy, claiming that he had spoken ill of party supremo H D Deve Gowda.Following the bypoll, the BJP would scarcely remain in power, he asserted. He said that the reason not to field a JD(S) candidate for the bypoll was that the party and the candidate wanted to avert a financial burden.Kumaraswamy also said that he would provide all necessary documents, which would indict Congress leaders of illegal mining. He accused the Congress of paving the way for illegal mining in reserved areas, while terming former CM S M Krishna as the pitamaha (forefather) of illegalities, as he was the first to permit mining in reserved forests. Pointing out that the latter’s name did not figure in the Lokayukta report on illegal mining, he questioned the credibility of the report on illegal mining. On the reported statements of BJP leaders, including Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, that Bellary was yet to achieve its independence, Kumaraswamy said that such utterances proved that the state government had failed to provide good governance.“Sadananda Gowda feels that his government may collapse any moment and has hence not given up the MP’s post,” he ridiculed.
