KOCHI: Allowing the state government to proceed with the allotment of engineering seats,  the Kerala High Court on Monday vacated an interim order of the status quo granted earlier with respect to the admission process to engineering colleges.A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J Chelameswar and Justice P R Ramachandra Menon issued the order while closing further proceedings in an appeal filed by Sohan Varghese of Ernakulam challenging the admission procedure.“We cannot think it just and necessary to continue with the interim order, holding of the entire selection process, at the instance of a student who had already secured admission to a self-financing engineering college,” the Division Bench held. The petitioner had challenged a new clause in the prospectus for admission to engineering courses, giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in the entrance examination and those obtained for mathematics, physics and chemistry/computer science/bio-technology put together in the qualifying examination, after effecting normalisation procedure.
