The ICC withdrew media accreditation despite Union govt's intervention before the Ind-Pak semi-final.

New Delhi: The ICC has once again barred news channels from covering the World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka on Saturday at Mumbai's Wankhede stadium.

The ICC has withdrawn media accreditation despite the Union government's intervention before the India-Pakistan semi-final in Mohali.

Earlier on Wednesday, before the Mohali semi-final, the ICC had allowed TV channels coverage after hectic parleys between the ICC representatives and news channels and last-minute intervention by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni. Soni spoke to ICC President Sharad Pawar after she was approached by the News Broadcasters Association.

Soni had spoken to Pawar after the ICC barred TV channels from further coverage of the World Cup for Non Right Holders (NRH) not adhering to the code of conduct and the media guidelines, which they had signed for accreditation.
