Identity cards for freedom fighters

Patna: The Bihar government will issue identity cards to freedom fighters as a mark of respect to them, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said.

He however, clarified that issuing of identity cards would not entitle them to any additional monetary.

The move was aimed at giving them respect for their struggle to free the country from British rule, he added.

Kumar referred to a House Committee report that said that tainted IAS officials were holding key posts in the present dispensation, and said the departmental heads had been instructed to take all the cases against the officials to a logical conclusion.

He, however, asserted that nobody could be branded as tainted till the allegations were proved.
