In Karnataka’s Guledgudda, Rath Yatra Celebrated At This 100-year-old Temple
The town of Guledagudda, in Karnataka, is celebrating the Rath Yatra on the same day as the Puri temples.

The Jagannath Rath Yatra commenced on July 7, Monday, from Puri, in the state of Odisha. Devotees from across the country are celebrating the occasion by joining in the procession. Local18 reports about this town in Karnataka, which celebrates the days with the same vigour and enthusiasm as the people in the yatra. As per reports by Local18, it is the town of Guledgudda in Karnataka, which is celebrating the Rath Yatra on the same day as the Puri temples. The start of the occasion has put the whole town in an atmosphere of celebration. In this town, the Jagannath temple is located in the Aralikatti area of the place. According to more information, the Rath Yatra procession passed through various points in the town, which include the municipality, Saraf Bazaar, Kantipet, Chow Bazar and some other main streets. The procession is led to the Jagadish Mandir.

Ahead of the Rath Yatra commencement, devotees from places like Pune, Mumbai, Solapur, Latur and others, have arrived to be a part and celebrate the yatra. Local18 reports that the procession was led by Jagdish Purohit and Shamsundar Purohit. They placed an utsava idol of Lord Jagannath within the chariot and started the yatra.

More information states that the Jagannath festival has been celebrated for more than 120 years at this place. The temple, over a century old, has been renovated for this year’s celebrations. According to the beliefs, the temple was constructed by the Marwari community. It was built as a place of worship for those who could not afford to visit the Jagannath temple in Puri.

The Rath Yatra is a journey of three deities, which are Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. It starts from their home, believed to be the Jagannath temple and leads to the Gundicha temple, Puri. Millions of devotees attend the yatra to celebrate the auspicious journey.
