Puri: In its effort to promote friendly ties with neighbours, India is set to sign agreements for hassle-free visits to Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar and Thailand.
Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Vijay Chhibber said in Puri(Odisha) on Friday that the matter was being placed on fast track and agreements would be signed with these countries soon.
Besides helping the people in free movement to and from these countries, it would also give a fillip to bilateral ties and develop trade and tourism, Chhibber said.
Chhibber said the Centre would accord a national highway status to the Vijayawada-Ranchi road, of which Odisha accounted for 400 km. It had asked the Odisha government to submit a detailed project report on the 400 km so that the Centre could look into its maintenance and development.
On the steps being taken for road development in this pilgrim city, he said that all pending work would be completed in time and that all construction work would be completed before Nabakalebar.
