'Indian arrests won't affect N-deal'
The US govt says the arrest of two Indian nationals on charges of illegally exporting US missile technology would not impact N-deal.

New Delhi: The US government has said the arrest of two Indian nationals on charges of illegally exporting US missile technology would not have an impact on the US-India civil nuclear agreement.

US spokesperson Sean McCormack said that there is no connection between the arrest and the agreement. McCormack said he expects the Indian Government to continue negotiations on the 1-2-3 Agreement.

The two Indian nationals — Parthasarathy Sudarshan, 46 and Mythili Gopal, 36, both of Simpsonville, South Carolina — were arrested on March 23 on charges of illegally exporting US missile technology to India without the required licenses.

The arrests were the result of a joint investigation by the FBI, the Department of Commerce, and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The case has been assigned to US District Judge Ricardo Urbina, who has scheduled a status hearing for April 17, 2007, for both Sudarshan and Gopal.
