Jaipur: Heirs to late Jaipur royal Gayatri Devi’s estate will have to wait to know who will inherit her properties worth Rs 1,000 crore.
Gayatri Devi's will was to be read out in Jaipur on Sunday but the document was not discussed at a ceremony in City Palace on the twelfth day of her death.
"Nothing on the will was discussed, and it is generally not scheduled during the twelfth-day rituals which was purely a matter of her family,” senior Rajput leader Lokendra Singh Kalvi told reporters.
"Who told media that will can be disclosed today or any other day? It's purely a matter of late Rajmata's family. I cannot comment on it. Twelfth day ceremonies are meant to overcome sad days of demise. It's the media that started speculation", Kalvi said.
Media reports on Saturday speculated that U N Bachawat, who has been appointed by the Supreme Court as the receiver-cum -administrator on royal family properties, was visiting Jaipur to work out a compromise in the royal family over inheritance.
Though no official valuation has been done for Gayatri Devi's properties, it is believed to be in the range of around Rs 1,000 crore.
Bachawat told reporters on Saturday he was in Jaipur to pay condolences on the demise of former queen and that if there was any issue which comes to his knowledge he will report to the Supreme Court.
