KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday stayed for three months the proceedings in the arrest warrant issued by the Thrissur Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum against Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy for failing to repay a fixed amount deposited by an investor in his company, Express Malayalam Private Limited. Swamy was the chairman of Express Malayalam. The forum had directed the police to produce Swamy before the court on or before April 4 on a complaint filed by V Vasudevan of Thrissur alleging that Swamy had failed to return Rs 5,000 deposited in the company. Vasudevan deposited Rs 5,000 as fixed amount in 1986 but failed to withdraw the amount in 1994. The company is non-functional now, Swamy argued. He added that the company is facing liquidation. So the warrant issued against him is illegal, he said.
