Koffee with Karan: Insecure about being married to Aishwarya Rai? Not at all, Abhishek Bachchan tells Karan Johar

New Delhi: Witty, hilarious and tongue-in-cheek. Yes, that's how those who watched the recent episode of 'Koffee with Karan' watched would refer Abhishek Bachchan's chat with Karan Johar to. The actor spoke about the pressures he had to combat being a star kid, the bond he shares with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and why he doesn't mind his father neither launching him nor salvaging his career.

When Karan, who isn't a colleague but also a dear friend of Abhishek, asked him if the pressure of being megastar Amitabh Bachchan's son ever bogs him down, and if he felt the need to scream loudly and say, 'I don't need to hear this anymore, he said, "Everybody has had those moments, just that for me it has never been that pronounced. I'd lie to you if I said I never thought about it. I'm my father's son. I didn't ask him... It wasn't a choice that I made. I'm blessed and eternally thankful. People do report that he is born with the silver spoon in his mouth, I never retort about the pressure the star kid has to go through. In comparison it is rubbish. Yes, we have had an easy access to the film industry. Yes, we do get our first job easily, but our struggle starts after our first job. But compared to what a common man goes through, you can't compare. I have never taken for granted that I'm Amitabh Bachchan's son. Till date I have never used my father's name. Of the films I have done, my father hasn't made a film for me. He never launched me, never salvaged my career. I take huge pride in saying that I'm what I'm today because of the hard work that I have put in. In fact, I made a film for my father. I made 'Paa' for him."

Abhishek also said that his actress wife Aishwarya did not marry him because he is a star or the son of Amitabh Bachchan. On being asked if there's any level of insecurity about being married to someone so stunning, the actor replied, "Not at all. That's one of our greatest strengths as husband and wife. She is the most beautiful woman, nobody is lying. I believe that the she is. To me she is the most beautiful thing on earth... She is great fun; she is really my best friend. I can talk to her about everything and that's the reason I love her so much. I haven't married her because she is the most beautiful woman or the biggest stars on earth. That's not the equation we share."
