Kolkata: Fire in highrise building, no casualty

Kolkata: A fire broke out on the 10th floor of a multistoreyed building at Chowringhee area at the heart of the city on Thursday night, forcing the firemen to rescue those trapped inside. Fire brigade sources said the fire, detected at about 8.30 pm near the staircase of the 10th floor, was brought under control by eight tenders deployed in the operation.

There was no report of any casualty, they said.

Firemen rescued all those trapped in the floor which houses some private offices.

Cause of the fire and extent of damage were under investigation.
