TIRUNELVELI: The People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) has expanded its existing scientific team and constituted a 21-member expert panel to study the impact of the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP). PMANE convenor S P Udayakumar announced the names of the members of the expert panel at a press meet held at the protest site in Idinthakarai. The panel will probe various aspects of the project such as land acquisition, establishment of reactors 1 and 2, environmental impact assessment report, Coastal Regulation Zone violations, public hearing processes, construction quality and reliability, contractor irregularities, corruption charges and employment issues.They will also study the design of Russian VVER reactor and engineering, reactor performance and safety, dummy fuel and disposal and fresh water demand and supply.The People’s safety will also be looked into.
