New Delhi: With wearable tech being touted as the next big thing in techology, Samsung would want to steal Apple thunder by unveiling its own version of the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch ahead of the rumoured iWatch. Now as the purported unveiling day, ahead of IFA Berlin, draws near, yet another leak of the device has made an appearance. This time on VentureBeat, which not only posted a number of images (taken from a video) of the Samsung Galaxy Gear but also a few other specifications.
Those who watch Doraemon, would be aware of the small light, a flashlight-like device that can shrink objects. From the appearance of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, it seems that Samsung would have used that borrowed device from the robot cat and used it on a Galaxy smartphone and then added a strap to it.
According to VentureBeat, the Galaxy Gear measures 3-inches diagonally and "although its screen is square, large bezels on the top and bottom give it a chunky, rectangular shape, with rounded corners."
The VentureBeat version of the Galaxy Gear may be a little different as the device VentureBeat writer Christina Farr got her hands on was a prototype.
From her experience with the Galaxy Gear, Farr says the smartwatch comes with a high-quality OLED display and she thinks that it could be more of "a smartphone companion rather than a smartphone alternative." Sony had experimented with something similar not too long ago.
According to Farr, the device is likely to come with a 4 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, preloaded social media and health apps and more than 10 hours of battery life.
