KOCHI: Stalemate continues over the future of Minister K B Ganesh Kumar in the Kerala Congres (B), with the party chairman R Balakrishna Pillai choosing to play his cards close to his chest, leaving the decision to the party working secretariat that is expected to  meet this week.Speaking at the party’s state convention here on Tuesday, Pillai said the party members were not happy with the UDF Government. “The party members from across the state shared their painful experiences after the UDF came to power. They are not at all happy with the performance of the government, and we will take up the issue at the UDF meeting in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday,” Pillai said.Taking a dig at his minister-son, Pillai said Ganesh Kumar was not cooperating with either the party leaders or the party workers. “He has not attended the party meetings during  the past few years. Even today, in spite of inviting him twice, he didn’t turn up. For the last eight months, he has not spoken to any party leaders. When some of them approached him for certain assistance, he was not ready even to meet them. I have told them not to approach him again. Instead they can come to me,” he said.Stating that the party is more important than the ministerial post, Pillai said: “No one is above the party. It is party which decide the ministerial berth.” Speaking about the Forest Department headed by Ganesh Kumar, Pillai said if Ganesh doesn’t like the department, he should quit the post and opt for some other department.“I bargained with the Congress to get him the Forest Department, if he doesn’t like it then he should take up tourism,” Pillai said.“No one in the party is supporting Ganesh Kumar and if the Congress tries to hijack the minister then the consequence will be different. He is supported by some people who are not the members of our party. His personnel staff members include CPM and CPI activists,” Pillai alleged.
