Magic course: First convocation held

The full potential of magic courses should be explored to make use of the job opportunities in the entertainment sector, Kerala University Vice-Chancellor Dr A Jayakrishnan said on Friday.

He was addressing the first convocation of the first batch of the magic course jointly conducted by the Centre for Adult Continuing Education and the Magic Academy here. Magicians are not merely entertainers of the public, but they can effectively convey important messages on social issues, he said.

Centre for Continuing Education director R Supriya presided over the function. The centre will try its best to land jobs for the young magicians who complete the course, she said.

Magic Academy executive director Gopinath Muthukad said that the magic course had caught the attention of magicians abroad. Dr A Jayakrishnan distributed the certificates to the passing-out batch. Sreekumar S, Govind P Dev, Juju Punnamoodu, Shajahan and Dileep received the certificates.

The course consisted of close-up magic and conjuring. The examination involved a written test, practicals and viva. The students also staged magic tricks at the function. K P Sivakumar and Magic Academy director Chandrasenan Mithrumala were present on the occasion.
