Mangalyaan's entry into Mars orbit: As it happened

India's Mars Orbiter Mission, popularly known as Mangalyaan, has entered the Martian orbit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present at the ISRO headquarters to witness the historic event, so was Union Minister Jitendra Singh.

Mangalyaan is primarily a technological mission and it has been configured to carry out observation of physical features of Mars and carry out limited study of the Martian atmosphere.
