HYDERABAD: Justice Madan Bhimarao Lokur was sworn in as chief justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court here on Tuesday.Governor ESL Narasimhan administered the oath to justice Lokur at Raj Bhavan.Legislative Council chairman A Chakrapani, Assembly speaker N Manohar, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, deputy chief minister C Damodar Rajanarsimha, ministers D Nagender and E Pratap Reddy, many legislators and senior officials were present.Justice Lokur was born on December 31, 1953 and obtained LL.B degree from Delhi University in 1977.He enrolled as an advocate-onrecord in the Supreme Court in 1981, served as the central government’s standing counsel from December 1990 to December 1996.On July 14,1998 he was appointed as the additional solicitor-general of India and became additional judge of the Delhi High Court on February 19, 1999 and permanent Judge on July 5, 1999.He also served as a member of the mediation and conciliation project committee of the Supreme Court in 2005.He was appointed as the chief justice of the Guwahati High Court on June 24 last year and as a member of the legal education committee of the Bar Council of India this year
