Mumbai: Seeking to scotch speculation over name of the metro service launched in the megapolis recently, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Saturday said it will be called "Mumbai Metro".
"It will be called Mumbai Metro," Chavan said in response to a query on the confusion over the nomenclature of the service, at a press conference at Vidhan Bhawan on Saturday night.
Chavan had recently warned that the service must bear the name Mumbai Metro, not Reliance Metro.
"It is 'Mumbai Metro' and we will ensure that it remains the same in future also," he had said, when asked about the private consortium posting its branding in some places with the name 'Reliance Metro' appearing at a few metro stations.
Earlier on Saturday, replying to a debate on Mumbai issues, initiated by Leader of Opposition Vinod Tawde, Chavan said the government has planned a coastal road to help ease traffic in the city.
The monsoon session of state legislature which began on June 2, ended on Saturday.
