A minor girl in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district allegedly delivered a baby in a hospital toilet of a female ward on Thursday. She was trying to flee, leaving the infant in the bucket, when the girl was apprehended by a staff who informed the authorities.
Hospital authorities informed The Times of India that the minor was admitted to the district hospital when she complained of a stomach ache at around 8:00 PM on Thursday.
At 9:00 PM, the minor gave birth to a baby girl in the toilet of the women’s ward. The girl after delivering the baby went back to her bed and was trying to flee with her parents when a hospital staff heard cries of the infant coming from the restroom.
The staff was surprised to see blood on the floor and the baby girl inside the bucket. Authorities have now reunited the baby girl with the minor and informed the police about the incident. Cops have also started probing the case.
A case is filed to ascertain details of the incident and then take necessary action, said the report.
In another unrelated incident that happened in Tamil Nadu, an infant was found near the toilet of a government school in the Chidambaram town of Cuddalore district.
Four days after the incident, cops discovered that the baby was delivered by a girl studying in class 11 of the school. The Bhuvanagari police were alerted by the school authorities about the newborn’s body. During the investigation, a 16-year-old confessed that she felt delivery pain while attending her class.
She reportedly went to the toilet and gave birth to the child. The case had left everyone shocked. Meanwhile, the police launched an investigation to catch the culprit who impregnated the minor girl.
The 16-year-old after delivering the baby cut the umbilical cord herself allegedly using a pen. The police suspect that the newborn died because the minor was unassisted during the delivery. It is reported that the minor came back to the classroom after giving birth, as per her initial statement.
