New Delhi: The Orissa State Secretary TK Mishra confirmed on Wednesday that all 34 commandos, who went missing after the ruthless Naxal attack in Malkangiri, are feared dead.
Ten more bodies have been recovered in a rescue operation in the Balimela reservoir taking the death total to 14 so far.
Search operations have been going on in the reservoir since Sunday, when over 50 personnel of the anti-Naxal force of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa police were feared drowned.
The tragic incident took place after Naxals fired from automatic weapons from a hill nearby, on the boat ferrying them.
Nearly 64 security personnel of the elite Greyhound Force were on the boat, on their way to Chitrakonda for a joint operation against the Naxals.
Of the 64 personnel on board, only eight could manage to swim ashore with bullet injuries on them.
