MADURAI: A middle-aged Mexican woman Ceule Denise Acosta (36), who had gone missing in Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district a week ago, is suspected to have been murdered by professional killers.Police in Madurai suspect that a partially burnt body of a woman dumped inside a suitcase that was found abandoned at a deserted place near Austinpatti, 15 km from Madurai, on April 11 could be that of the missing foreigner. “The body appears to be that of a middle-aged woman. The age group matches with that of Acosta and the body was found around the same time she had gone missing. However, it is premature to conclude anything. We have sent the body for skull superimposition test. Only after that we would know the identity of the victim for sure,” South Zone Inspector General of Police Rajesh Das told the Express on Monday.Acosta, a student of ‘Mohini Aattam’ in Kalamandalam deemed university in Thrissur district of Kerala, was reported missing since April 9, after she boarded a bus from Krishnankovil bus stand near here. She had come to Sriviliputtur to meet her 40-year old boyfriend Manric, who is pursuing post-doctoral studies in Mathematics at a deemed university. “When Manric had called her mobile phone, someone else had answered the call. Subsequently the phone was switched off. We are trying to trace the tower location of the mobile phone and also collecting the details of her friends,” Das said.An investigating officer said that the killers had cut the hand of the victim to fit her body into the suitcase.“We suspect the body was brought in a Ford Fiesta car as its body part was found at the spot. The impression of the tyres has been taken for forensic examination,” he said.
