CHENNAI: A widowed mother of a 19-year-old engineering student, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances, lodged a complaint with the Police Commissioner here on Tuesday alleging that her son was murdered by his friendsand playmates and sought legal action.Shantiniketan (46) of Chitaranjan Colony, Thiruvallur street, Peravalur, stated in her complaint that on September 25, she was informed that her son Pradeep Kumar (19) was pushed down from a bridge near Perambur Loco Works railway station and died on the way to the Goverment General Hospital.However, Shantiniketan claimed that her son was beaten up and the neighbours who were a witness to this, chose to remain mum due to the fear of police. The mother also claimed that her son never consumed alcohol. She further alleged that her son had faced issues with his friends and playmates over a cricket match. “My husband died four years after my marriage and now I am alone with my daughter. My only son is go-ne and I fear for my daughter’s safety. All I want is the police to take action and get me justice,” she said.
