Severe cold wave conditions gripped several parts of Maharashtra.

Mumbai: Mumbai shivered at 8.5ºC on Friday, which was the coldest day in February for the city in 46 years. The unusually cold weather this season has seen Mumbaikars sporting sweaters even during the day.

Mumbai apart, the severe cold wave conditions gripped other parts of Maharashtra as well, with the mercury dipping to 4.6ºC in Nasik.

"This is the lowest-ever temperature recorded in the city for the month of February," a weather bureau official said. The minimum temperature recorded at Colaba was 13.4ºC, while at Santa Cruz it was 8.5 degrees.

Since Thursday night, the chilly weather conditions made the people shiver in the city and suburbs. Medical practitioners saw the number of people affected by cold and fever rising in the last one week.

Nasik. The chilly weather continued unabated in other parts of the state with Nasik recording minimum temperature of 4.6ºC, Pune 7.7ºC, Aurangabad 7.3ºC, Mahablashwar 6.5ºC and Kolhapur 10.2ºC.
