NAMAKKAL: With as many four students from Namakkal making it to the list of the top 20 ranks, students from the district have fared better than their peers from across the State, in the rank list for admission to engineering colleges, which was released on Friday.This year, the names of four students from here, including three girls, figured in the top 20 ranks. N Jeevitha, a student of Vivekanandha MHSS, Pandamangalam near Namakkal, came sixth in the list.The daughter of a Block Health Statistician, she secured 1,155 marks in the plus-two exams, with a centum score in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.“Although I have got the sixth rank, I will pursue medicine. It’s my dream to become a physician and I aim to do research in general medicine,” she told Express. She also came 12th in the medical rank list.Another girl who made it to the top 20 rankings was A Abinaya, who was studying in the Green Park MHSS, Namakkal. She secured the 10th position in the engineering rank list. But, she too expressed her desire to become a physician. “My aim is to become a specialist in Cardiology,” she said. Her father Ayyavu is a retired teacher. She scored 1167 marks with a centum score in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Her family resides in Marurpatti village. Meanwhile, Kurinji MHSS student D Arun Prasadh obtained the 13th place in the rank list, while A Poovizhi who hails from Mohanur, secured the 16th rank.Other top performers included S Naveena of T Kollapatti, who topped the list in the Scheduled Caste category, while  S Velavan of Kolavankaraipatty in Kolli Hills came first in the Scheduled Tribe category.
