Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has laid out the timeline to make the Navi Mumbai International Airport operational. The tenders for the construction of the airport will be issued in May.

The construction of the new airport is scheduled to begin in October and the work is estimated to be completed within three years by 2019.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport was cleared by the Central government in 2007 but the plan has been stuck midway after encountering problems in land acquisition and environmental clearance.
