Newly appointed Madhya Pradesh Congress president Arun Yadav said in Bhopal on Friday that all efforts would be made to improve the party's performance in this year's Lok Sabha polls.
"The Congress had won 12 out a total of 29 Lok Sabha seats from Madhya Pradesh and we hope that this tally will be increased," the MP state Congress president told reporters at his first press conference after assuming office.
Asked about what he thought about Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh or BJP's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi, Yadav shot back, "I consider neither Chouhan nor Modi as a challenge". Answering a question, he said that a decision on whether or not he would contest the Lok Sabha elections would be taken by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
When asked to comment on Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Alok Agarwal's plans to contest polls from his Khandwa constituency, he said, "He is welcome to do so".
