Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday ruled out a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the allotment of land to family members of ruling alliance leaders, as demanded by the opposition.
"After chief secretary's report, there is no necessity for a CBI probe," he said.
In his probe report submitted last week, Chief Secretary Anup Mukherjee has made it clear that no rules have been violated in the allotment of factory plots to the sons and daughters of the alliance leaders.
Nitish Kumar said that the opposition is needlessly trying to make an issue out of the land allocations, and accused them of "vitiating" the atmosphere for industrial development in Bihar by raking up "baseless" allegation about irregularities at a time when private investors were evincing interest in setting up industrial units in the state.
The opposition alleged that the state government had allotted factory plots of the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) to sons and daughters of the ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance leaders at throwaway prices.
