No respite from power cuts

HYDERABAD: Power cuts still continue across the state even after the withdrawal of 42-day Sakala Janula Samme of TJAC.At present, there is a shortage of about 20 million units (MU) per day which is being managed by imposing power cuts to various sectors.According to APTransco officials, the demand for power stood at 255 MU per day now, which is 40 per cent higher compared to last year's 185 MU.The increase in demand for power is attributed to prolonged dry spell and late kharif crops.Power generation was also hit due to coal shortage due to Singareni staff strike.
