Mumbai: He nearly stole the show in Lage Raho Munnabhai and now he is planning to do the same on the small screen. Actor Arshad Warsi is playing host on Bigg Boss and no, its not a gangster show, but Sony's adaptation of the international hit reality series Big Brother.
CNN-IBN caught up with Arshad as he shot a promo for the Bigg Boss.
So, will it be gangster humour all the way as Arshad goes from Circuit to celebrity show host?
"The sense of humour is me – it's a part of me. It has got nothing to do with Circuit. In fact Circuit got his sense of humour from me," Arshad quipped.
Bigg Boss is set to launch on Sony next month with 13 celebrities living in a house for a 100 days with cameras rolling non-stop.
With no TV or phones or visits, Arshad will be their only link to the outside world as one of them gets voted out each week.
For Arshad, this was actually a role he was dying to get.
"If I wasn't on this show I would have called Sony people up and said I wish you'd asked me to host this show. It is the biggest reality show you can ever have and it can't get bigger than this. I know I’m going to enjoy watching it so why not be a part of it," Arshad said.
While TV production company, Endemol's show Big Brother is high voltage drama internationally, in India it will be a toned down version.
So, don't expect any sex and violence. But it’s not going to be easy either and Arshad pitches in with his words of advice.
"I would say, all the best – it's going to be tough!" Arshad said.
