Now, Mysore Zoo loses white tigress

A white tigress who was suffering due to a tumour in the mammary glands died at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens in the city on Sunday.

Reeta (19), born to Darshan and Priyadarshini in 1993, is said to be the second tigress to live for the longest time in the zoo.

The tigress was diagnosed with cancer in the first week of July and was served with boneless meat for several months, as most of Reeta’s teeth had fallen out.

Reeta had stopped eating for the last three days. In the meantime, zoo authorities are leaving no stone unturned and taking good take care of the three remaining cheetah cubs to ensure that they too do not fall prey to the same fate.
