Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court on Monday granted bail to former Chief Medical Officer A K Shukla, arrested in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the National Rural Health Mission.
Justice Ashwani Kumar Singh of the Lucknow Bench allowed the application for bail moved on behalf of Shukla, a former CMO in the Family Welfare Department in Lucknow, his counsel Rishad Murtaza said.
The financial irregularities were detected during investigation into the murder of CMO B P Singh who was shot dead in Gomti Nagar area on April two.
Deputy CMO Y S Sachan, administration officer C S Yadav and senior clerk P C Verma were arrested immediately after allegations of irregularities in the department surfaced.
On June 22, Sachan was found dead inside the toilet of Lucknow district jail hospital.
Shukla was arrested on July 12 in connection with the case.
