Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday directed restoration of the old queue system to pay obeisance at the famous Baidyanath Dham temple in Deogarh, a day after devotes were baton charged by the police.
The direction came in the wake of the recommendation made by a three-member inquiry team set up to look into the police lathicharge in the temple town, official sources said here.
Earlier in the day Soren set up the team headed by Home Secretary N N Pandey to probe into the police lathicharge after members in the assembly expressed concern over the incident.
The other members of the team are Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar and local RJD MLA Suresh Paswan.
Soren also expressed concern over the incident in the Assembly and had said it appeared that the new system introduced for paying obeisance at the temple could not be successful, and if the probe report found it to be true than the old practice would be re-introduced.
As per the new system, the devotees were to take 'time slot bands' by the administration. But the devotees protested against setting time limit to pay obeisance, leading to the baton charge on Thursday.
