One child was killed and two sustained injuries after a crude bomb exploded in the Pandua area of West Bengal’s Hooghly district on Monday.

As per media reports, the children were playing with the bomb which they had mistaken to be a ball.

Among the injured, one of them have reportedly lost their right hand.

The children were playing beside a pond when locals suddenly heard a loud sound. On rushing to the spot, they found the three boys lying on the ground due to the explosion.

The three children were soon taken to the Pandua hospital where the doctors declared one of them dead. The other two injured are in a critical condition and have been shifted to the Imambara Hospital in Chinsurah.

Local BJP MP Locket Chatterjee accused the TMC of being involved in the blast.

She claimed it is the politics of fear-mongering of the ruling party of West Bengal ahead of senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee’s campaign in Pandua.

Banerjee, the TMC national general secretary and considered number two in the party, will hold a public meeting later on Monday.
