Opposition fisrupts assembly session

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Friday’s Assembly session wound up scarcely one-and-a-half hours after it opened with the Opposition disrupting procedures by staging a sitin in the Well of the House.The Opposition action was in protest against the refusal to permit an adjournment motion on the police action against Left students’ organisations at Valakam on Thursday.CPI’s Mullakkara Ratnakaran, who sought leave for the motion, alleged that the UDF Government was protecting the real perpetrators of the attack on Krishnakumar, the teacher of Valakam HSS, now admitted to the Medical College Hospital here in a critical condition.Former Minister R Balakrishna Pillai, now in jail in connection with the Edamalayar case, the manager of the school, is the reason for the UDF Government’s dithering on the issue, the Opposition said.Mullakkara said that the AISF-SFI agitations only reflected public ire against the government.“Krishnakumar’s wife Geetha says the school management is his only enemy.Naturally, the management should have been questioned first,’’CPI’s Mullakkara Ratnakaran said.
