CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has reserved its orders on a criminal original petition from Priyadarshini (26) of Valasaravakkam, praying for a direction to the City Police Commissioner to register a case on her complaint dated December 9 last year alleging that Varun Kumar, a new entrant to the IPS cadre, has deceived her after promising to marry her.Justice S Nagamuthu reserved the orders after listening to the elaborate arguments advanced by Darshini’s counsel S Prabakaran and others. The order is likely to be pronounced on Thursday (April 26).Meanwhile, in her counter-statement to the intervening petition filed by Prof R Veerasekaran, father of Varun Kumar, opposing grant of any relief to her, Darshini stated that Veerasekaran had no locus standi to file the petition. After continuing his love affair for over two years, introducing to everyone as his fiance and promising to marry her after becoming an IPS officer, the refusal of Varun Kumar for the marriage would amount to betrayal, criminal breach of trust and would totally spoil her future. Her life was thrown in the mid-street and her future was in dark, Darshini contended.
