Srinagar: The gun battle between security forces and terrorists at the EDI building at Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir has entered the third day with the second militant gunned down in the operation which began more than 50 hours ago, police said.
Heavy exchange of firing continued between the terrorists and security forces with the army making use of more than 100 rockets, machines guns and explosives in an effort to eliminate them from inside the battered building.
The EDI building, which is located 15 kms from Srinagar offered vocational training to young Kashmiris, has been partially damaged and is up in flames in some parts.
There have been no hostages inside the building as the institute has been shut since the past three months owing to the unrest in the valley post the death of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani.
As per the latest reports, army has cleared 4 floors of the seven storied EDI building.

The terrorists entered the building on Monday morning from the rear and set some furniture on fire to gain attention.
As the fire tenders reached the spot, the terrorists fired in the air post which the Army and the special forces were alerted to begin counter operations to flush out or eliminate them.
An encounter between militants and security forces took place at the same premises in February this year which lasted for more than 48 hours.
