Paravoor scandal: Director, actor among 3 held

KOCHI: Three more people, including a film director and a serial actor, were arrested by the Crime Branch team probing the Paravoor sex scandal on Tuesday.The police said the girl was lured by the team promising a role in a telefilm.The arrested are Jaspal alias Kuttan, 38, of Thyparambil, Ambalappuzha, Alappuzha, who is a film director; Brijith, 26, of Sreesailam, Pathanapuram, Kollam, a serial actor and Ismayil, 36, of Kumbalamparamb Road, Edappally, a coordinator in linking actors with film makers.According to the police, the minor girl was commissioned by Ismayil through her father, for acting in a telefilm on creating awareness about AIDS in a private TV channel in 2010.She later acted in the telefilm and it was telecast also. In the meantime, she was brought to a house at Pathanapuram and assaulted. The police are in search of a person working with the Tamil Nadu police in connection with the issue. Recently, a prominent NRI, who is allegedly involved in the issue, surrendered before the police. A doctor, who was named in the scandal, had allegedly committed suicide recently.
