Patient seeks help

KOCHI: An ailing retired PWD employee, languishing in the isolation ward of Ernakulam General Hospital, is seeking the mercy of his relatives.72-year-old Balakrishnan, who had been leading a secluded life at a rented house in Chottanikkara, near here, for the past two years, had recently developed signs of Oedema.During the past one month, his body parts had swelled up, following which the neighbours informed his family members.However, Balakrishnan’s relatives refused to take the pains of admitting him to hospital. Acting on the directions of the police, the locals and the Theruvora Pravarthaka Association admitted him to the Ernakulam General Hospital. He is now undergoing treatment in the isolation ward of the hospital.
