General convenor of Adhyapaka-Service Sanghatana Samarasamithi C R Jose Prakash has asked whether government would be ready to conduct a referendum among the government employees and teachers to know their stand about contributory pension.
He said that this was necessary in view of Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan’s statement that the majority of government employees had not participated in the Tuesday’s strike.
He alleged that the figures given by the Home Minister regarding the attendance level on the day of strike was baseless. More than 80 percent of government employees and teachers had participated in the strike.
He also said that unless the order on August 8 on contributory pension is cancelled, organisations will adopt stronger methods of protest including indefinite strike.
